Designed by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, the Steelwood collection combines two traditional materials, wood and steel plate, to create simple yet elegant and sophisticated design products. The collection initially featured the Steelwood Chair, but it has since expanded to include stools, tables, a modular bookcase, and a coat hanger.
While the combination of wood and steel is not new, the Steelwood collection brings innovation to this pairing. The structural framework of all Steelwood products consists of steel plate painted in polyester powder, providing stability, while wooden elements fulfill the supporting function. This distinct division of roles between the components is evident, resulting in a coherent overall aesthetic.
